I GOT THE JOB!  Woke up to a call this morning (well, afternoon) from Eric at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America saying they wanted to hire me! Very exciting. I will be working with them through the Americorps VISTA program, so I guess that means I will officially be serving my country.  🙂

And of course, as you can probably assume, I’ve been playing around w/ my new camera a bit.  I was out running errands most of the day, so I didn’t get to take any pictures while it was nice out, but here are some evening shots from around the house.

Bag that my Korean grandmother bought me in Japan

My awesome $5 Walmart shoes

Haha, yes, that is a daily to do list in the background…and yes, I AM that nerdy.  To make matters even nerdier, it’s actually a productivity competition w/ my friend Amanda.

Baked some wheat bread in the bread maker

Eating now and leaving traces of honey fingers on my keyboard

Cooked more Korean beef and radish soup tonight (again didn’t read the directions, oh well)–can you see the steam rising out of the pot?

Blind shots

In other news, today, Holly put up pics from our camera date a while back.  I thought it was interesting to see how our pictures differed from each other despite using the same cameras and lenses at the same time and in the same location.  You can make comparisons to my post here.  Perspective is incredible, and it’s crazy to think of all the bazillions of people in the world and how each one of them has their own unique perspective based on their personal experiences and genetic makeup.  Being human is surely an incredible thing.

I am SO stoked right now because after waiting months for the Canon t2i to release and not be backordered, mine has finally come. Yeeahhh!!!  Here are my very first pictures with it.  NO EDITS!  (Thank God, I still hate photo editing…)  ㅠㅠ  You can click the images to see them in full size.

The images could be clearer, because I do not yet have a steady hand, but the quality is absolutely amazing.  I want to say it’s cuz I’m awesome, but it’s more like because I’m broke.  I bought a 24-70mm 2.8L lens w/ the camera, and if you don’t understand what all those numbers and letters mean, they basically mean AWESOMENESS (at a high price).  I’m pretty embarrassed to admit that I bought it because I’m an amateur, but I made a conscious decision to INVEST in myself because I BELIEVE in Stephanie Lee’s abilities as a photographer!  ::Ohh!  *Sniffles*  You believe in me, Stephanie!  Oh my gosh, thank you, thank you!  I’m so touched!::

Hey, someone has to believe in me…

Apart from getting my camera today, a lot of other very exciting and big life events took place:

1)  I interviewed for a summer position through Americorps VISTA working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and I think it went well.

2)  I picked out a car at the local lot that I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy this week.  Isn’t it uglishly amazing???  (Don’t hate, I LIKE ugly cars.)

3)  I upgraded to an unlimited talk and text cell phone plan through t-mobile.  (Ever since I’ve had a phone, I’ve only had 300 minutes a month, which if you know me at all you will know that is NOT ENOUGH, so this is a pretty big deal.)

So basically, my entire life savings has been pretty much wiped out, and will be entirely wiped out after I make my summer tuition payment next month.  But it’s all good because apparently in the near future cash won’t be worth anything anyway…
